Model 01 Gd10 Du Jas Super Devoluy 1

The new Jas cable car Commissioning end 2026

By the end of 2026, the ski area will have a new gondola lift to replace the Jas chairlift.

In addition, from spring 2026, major works will be undertaken on the Superdévoluy snow front, which are likely to cause noise pollution. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Identity card for new Jas cable car

  • A length of around 1950 m with a vertical drop of 429 m
  • An optimised line made up of 9 pylons compared with 15 for the existing detachable chairlift installation
  • A provisional capacity of 1,837 people/hour
  • 36 cabins with 10 seats each
  • An operating speed of 7 m/s
  • Weight of the top station motor: 20 tonnes
  • Cable tension: around 60 to 70 tonnes
  • Station design by Sergio Pininfarina, unique in the Hautes-Alpes region (05)
  • Wind resistance: 25 m/s
  • 4 km of cable
  • Rise time: 7 minutes (currently 15 minutes)

Main benefit: improved safety for users, particularly children and beginners.

Particular signs of the device

  • The stations are equipped with LEITNER Premium covers
  • The cabins have panoramic glazing and sliding doors with a large opening of ~950 mm.
  • The installation’s operating speed of 7 m/s reduces the number of cabins in line. As a result, the power rating calculated for the new gondola lift’s motor has been reduced to 469 kW at the provisional flow rate (i.e. 6% less than the existing installation with a power rating of 500 kW).
  • By optimising the 9-tower line, we have also significantly reduced the costs of servicing, checking and maintaining the line structures.
  • This is also the case for the detachable attachments and the vehicles, with 36 cabins at the provisional capacity compared with 104 seats for the existing installation.
