Le Dévoluy, a top basketball destination!

The Team Basket Association was founded in 1984, the year of the Los Angeles Olympic Games, in which the French team took part.
The players who made up that team (Jean Michel Sénégal, Richard Dacoury, Eric and Grégor Beugnot, Jacques Monclar, Stéphane Ostrowski…) along with the National Technical Director at the time, Pierre Dao and former international player Patrick Demars, decided to organise training camps with the aim of getting together outside of competitions and enabling all participants to benefit from their experience.

This is how the first basketball camp was established in 1984.
Since then, every year, Le Dévoluy has welcomed more than 1,200 children over an eight-week period for a week of training at altitude.

The biggest camp basketball in France!

Thanks to the 11 outdoor basketball courts and those that can be set up indoors at the Dévoluy sports centre, the TBA camps are the camps that host the largest number of participants at any one time in France.

Since its inception, more than 30,000 camp participants aged between 7 and 18 have been able to enjoy the experience at an altitude of 1,500 metres. Some of these participants have since gone on to become international professional players and/or coaches.

The popularity is such that by the end of March each year, the camps are fully booked .

TBA was the first basketball summer camp to be affiliated with the French Basketball Federation (FFBB) and, as part of this, an official OPEN STAR-approved 3×3 competition is held every week. The results of these tournaments are recorded both at federal level (FFBB) and globally by FIBA World.
These basketball camps are the result of over 30 years’ experience and professionalism.
France’s largest basketball camp is located in Superdévoluy, featuring an indoor sports centre (two indoor courts) and 11 outdoor courts – a total of 13 courts in a single complex: unique in France.
These basketball camps are recognised far beyond our borders; basketball coaches and Pro A players from the NATIONAL BASKETBALL LEAGUE and the NBA have already taken part (George Karl, NBA coach; Boris DIAW, NBA player; …) as well as basketball players of European renown (Edwin JACKSON, Aymeric JEANNEAU). Camp participants from all corners of the world have attended or are attending our camps (USA, Japan, Brazil, Russia, Spain, Belgium, Dubai, Africa, Chile, India, Singapore…)
Coaching is provided by professional basketball players as well as experienced coaches who hold state-recognised qualifications from the French Basketball Federation.
The camp takes place at a venue situated at an altitude of 1,500 metres, offering high-quality sports facilities and accommodation. It is also possible to book various types of accommodation – studios, flats or hotels – for parents wishing to accompany their child(ren) on the camp and enjoy a holiday in the mountains.
Every week, mixed basketball camps are open to all ability levels, for children aged 6 and over .
You can sign up for a basketball camp on your own, as a group or as a family.
The camp prices are the most competitive in France. ANCV vouchers are accepted, as is payment in instalments.

For the past six years now, 24 hours a day, participants have been encouraged to speak English, take part in basketball workshops in English, and even sleep and eat in English!
During the week, American coaches deliver several sessions. On top of this, there are English lessons, educational activities in English, and so on.

English camps by TBA

The Tarbes basketball team on an oxygen therapy course in Le Dévoluy

From 20 to 25 August 2023, the Tarbes basketball team (National 1) were on a high-altitude training camp in Le Dévoluy. Their new coach, Stéphane Dao, is no stranger to the area. In fact, he organises TBA (Team Basket Association) camps in Superdévoluy every summer, and has already visited the area with other clubs.

Why Le Dévoluy? Because I’ve been here before when I was coaching in Monaco, and then in Toulouse. I know the place; we’re made to feel very welcome, and the impact this has on the team is always positive.
As the new coach of this Tarbes team since June, he believes that “the aim of the training camp is to build team spirit before the start of the season. The players need to get to know one another and spend time together. My sporting objectives are to get the Tarbes team back into the play-offs.”
