Climbing and via ferrata

The Dévoluy is well known for its cliffs.

The massif is home to several school sites and major routes.

More than 7 places (Les Étroits, Les Gillardes, Bure, Pierroux, La Grande Roche, L'Obiou...) of different difficulties are identified. In total, more than 70 routes!
The waltz of catches, the walk of the blessed and the wild, the last temptation of a too short summer... so many evocative names!

In big routes, the Demaison route at the Pic de Bure is a must on the adventure ground. The Gillardes wall offers about fifteen routes, from 300 to 500 m high of high quality.
At Pic Pierroux you will find magnificent routes from 150 to 250 m .
Easier but just as wild, the routes at l'Obiou and Pic Ponsin will suit "hiker-climbers".

As a school site, the Gicons site is the best spot in the valley with numerous routes for all levels and a panoramic view over the whole valley which is quite exceptional.
The Site des Etroits, facing due south and located at the entrance to the village of Saint-Étienne-en-Dévoluy is the most accessible.
