The villages

Dévoluy has four main villages, reminders of a time when the massif was made up of four communes. Today, the villages ofAgnières en Dévoluy, Saint Étienne en Dévoluy, Saint Disdier and La Cluse make up the commune of Dévoluy. Discover villages and hamlets that combine the charm of the past with the authenticity of the Dévoluy mountains.

At the foot of Rocher Rond Agnières en Dévoluy

Close to the resort of La Joue du Loup, the village of Agnières, with its bar/restaurant L’Étincelle and its France Services point, is the starting point for many walks along the Dévoluy trails. Don’t miss the famous straw-bale-throwing competition on 15 August and the Altaïr fun trail!

Facing the peak of Bure Saint Étienne en Dévoluy

Situated at the foot of the Superdévoluy resort and the Col du Noyer, the village of Saint Étienne en Dévoluy is home to the Dévoluy town hall and a range of shops. All year round, cyclists, motorcyclists and holidaymakers pass through the village to discover the massif. The backdrop is the Pic de Bure and its plateau, home to the most powerful observatory in the northern hemisphere: the NOEMA observatory.

At the foot of Mère-Église Saint Disdier

Just 10km from the resorts of Superdévoluy and La Joue du Loup lies the village of Saint Disdier and Mère-Eglise, one of the oldest chapels in the Hautes-Alpes, dating back to the 11th century. Built by the monks of Clus, it bears witness to the establishment of monastic life in a mountain environment. Every summer, Mère-Eglise is alive with the sounds of the concerts at the Musique en Dévoluy festival!
From Saint Disdier, there are numerous hiking trails all year round (Col de L’Aup, Puits des Bans, etc). Also nearby and not to be missed: the Gillardes springs: the second-largest exurgence behind the Vaucluse fountain, the Pellafol canal and the Gicons climbing site.

A hidden nugget La Cluse

The first village in Dévoluy when you arrive from the south, La Cluse is a real haven of peace, with its authenticity and small heritage. The village is located just a few kilometres from the Col du Festre, on the Dévoluy tour, and is also a starting point for many ski touring, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing itineraries!
