Le Dévoluy lamb

Le Dévoluy lamb falls under the "Agneau de Sisteron" designation, linked to a Red Label which guarantees its superior taste and quality.

A shepherdess from Le Dévoluy and her sheep (Hautes-Alpes)

Le Dévoluy is principally a sheep-raising agricultural territory. More than 25,000 sheep have grazed and sculpted its landscape for generations.

The Mérinos d'Arles breed of sheep is suckled by its mother for a minimum of two months. A young lamb provides meat that's light in colour, sweet in taste, and exceptionally tender. A limited number of sheep farmers are awarded the Red Label for the sheep they raise.

Sheep farmers open up their farms to the public to explain their work, give tours of the farm, as well as give the public the chance to taste and sample their lamb at retail prices.
